Domains & Website Hosting

Domain names are like street addresses. They are referred to as URLs. For instance, www.MySite.com would be a URL and I would register the domain at GoDaddy.com if I wanted to use it.

Website hosting is where your website files are stored. So think of it like a house. You URL is your street and your hosting is your house.

If you choose to BRAND "You, Inc", and have a personally branded site, you will need a URL and hosting.

If I already have a website - do I need to do this?

Here is the scoop. You can use your existing website if you want, but you will need to make some changes to it to make it more effective. I would ask youself, (A) Do I have control over my site? (B) Will it cost me to have it changed everytime I work on it? (C) Is it easy to change?

If you are a home business owner and marketing an affliate product - you will still need a personally branded site to BRAND "You, Inc". You CAN'T just send people to your "buy" page on your company's website and expect them to buy. It just doesn't work that way. They need to get to know you and trust you.

By using customer segmentation, you can speak more specifically to your customers, helping them identify with you better.

You can set up a sales page as the home page, with your offer, headline, video, and opt in form, and then create multiple landing pages to drive traffic to based on your marketing strategy. You have to decide if you have several customers and want to speak to them specifically, or if you can focus on one message.

You don't want your message so watered down that it doesn't speak to anyone.

Blog set-up and why you want to blog

A blog is a journal page that allows you to post updates on a regular basis. If you are using our recommended vendor, you would select a page set-up as "Journal", not HTML.

You can change what is shown above the post like the date, title, and below the post you can show tags, author, share article link, etc in "Configure this page". Your blog posts should be relevant to your business, and ideally have keywords sprinkled in for best results.

You can use other marketing methods (social media), and drive people to read a post in your blog. This is best to help people get to know you better, and not feel like you are giving them a hard sell. The other thing to keep in mind is to provide free content to help others.

You will be more respected and find you can convert fans into buying customers faster. The search engines love the blog activities, so it is best to keep posting regularly. They make it super easy to update and expand, and if done properly, will have the robots crawling to index your site and blog.

Both of the custom website platforms come with blog features. You can also use a free blog software like blogger.com.

Setting up your personally branded sales funnel

If you have decided to set-up your custom personally branded website, you will need to start off with at least a personalized header, with your home page set up as a sales funnel (watch video on customer segmentation), a privacy policy page, and meet us page. In addition to the basic pages, we recommend a blog where you can post topics related to keywords, your industry, company, and inspired thoughts.

Your sales funnel is where you will have people opt-in, with a sales letter, video, and killer headline. You can have a sales funnel without video, but testing shows that you will get better conversions with a video. Your video should be 2 minutes or less.

As shown in the customer segmentation video, your landing page can be shown in your navigation bar, but your sales letter, and thank you page are hidden and only seen by the viewer when they opt, and follow the links you have provided.

Copywriting rule # 1 For Your Website

The #1 rule in copywriting (based on EXPERT copywriters), is you MUST emphasize benefits, not features. Let's clarify this by taking it straight from the horses mouth, Dan Kennedy.

> A feature is one of the components or functions of your products or service. For example, if your toothbrush comes packaged with glow in the dark tooth paste, that is a feature, not a benefit.

> A benefit is something, your product or service will do for your buyer to somehow offer a solution to a problem. So, if your toothbrushes that come with glow in the dark toothpaste make stubborn kids thrilled to brush their teeth before they go to bed, then you have a benefit.

You want your benefit to be clear in the headline and the body copy.
